Retired Racehorse Project Thoroughbred Makeover

Michelle and “Youmightbearedneck aka Rory” did very well at the 2016 RRP Thoroughbred Makeover and Rory (who has been renamed “WestWinds Rorscach”) won the Thoroughbred Ambassador Award!

For 2017, Michelle has been selected again to compete and this time she is bringing two geldings with her: “Fairbanks City” and “Hes A Cat.” Michelle purchased Fairbanks sight unseen from Jen Ruberto of Wire to Wire Sporthorses. Michelle and Jen are partners on George and again, Michelle took him sight unseen.

We are very excited about training these two fantastic young horses and bringing them to compete at the RRP Makeover. Michelle is unsure of which disciplines each horse will do and intends on finding which horse is best suited for which discipline. Please continue reading below for more detailed descriptions of each horse.

Fairbanks City

Fairbanks City aka Fairbanks is a 2013 Thoroughbred gelding standing 16.1 hands. He retired from racing in early November 2016 and he made his way to Westwind Farms not long afterwards.

Michelle has already started taking Fairbanks on hacks and to other farms to school. Additionally, Michelle has begun riding Fairbanks bridleless – just like Rory!

He’s A Cat

He’s A Cat aka George is a 2010 Thoroughbred gelding standing 17 hands. He raced under Jen Ruberto’s family’s colors until it was time for him to retire. Jen and Michelle have gone in and are partners to get George to the RRP Makeover.

George has just started his retraining and is doing great!
